What is an ICF MCC credentialing?

Master Certified Coach credentials or MCC credentialing, is an accreditation offered by the ICF. Credentialing recognizes an individual’s coaching qualifications and honours the coaches with official coaching designations such as ACC, PCC, or MCC depending on their certification and experience. The ICF offers 3 levels of credentialing, ACC (Associate Certified Coach) at the first level, PCC {Professional Certified Coach) at the second and the MCC (Master Certified Coach) at the final level. Only PCC accredited coaches with designated hours of experience can apply for the MCC credentialing process.

How to become an ICF MCC coach?

ICF-approved coach training institutes around the globe provide both offline and online Master Certified Coach training processes. Coaches with ambition, desire to truly master coaching skills, and with extensive coaching experience and PCC credentials can apply for MCC credentialing process without any constraints.

MCC credentialing process includes Mentor Coaching, Group Coaching, and Peer Coaching. There are numbered hours of self-study too. The MCC credentialing process has evaluative examinations at the end of the process. Students only after clearing the examination can become MCC coaches, making it the ideal pathway for gaining the Master Coach Certification (MCC).

To qualify as an MCC, a coach must:

  • Exceed over 200 hours of coach-specific training.
  • Be accredited as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC).
  • Invest in 10 hours of coaching with an MCC mentor of good standing. These hours are over and above any coaching hours taken to pursue an ACC or PCC accreditation
  • Log at least 2,500 hours (2,200 paid) of coaching experience with a minimum of 35 clients.
  • Submit a performance evaluation. It must include two audio recordings and written transcripts of coaching sessions.

The ICF ACC Credential and the PCC credential can be applied for through ICF recognized pathways like the ACTP (125 hours two-level coach training program), ACSTH (minimum 60 hours of training for ACC credentials), or Portfolio path, however, there is only one application path for the Master Certified Coach, MCC credentialing process.

MCC (Master Certified Coach) is the highest level of accreditation offered by the ICF. To get ICF MCC credentials through the pathway of MCC credentialing, coaches must complete a MCC traiining program approved by ICF, get trained in the ICF’s Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, and learn the refined techniques of coaching.

MCCs are trustworthy coaches who use dialogue as a mode of communication with their clients. They ask compassionate questions which aid in enhancing a client’s self-knowledge and self – belief..
