Step-by-step Guide to Making Homemade Wax Melt at Home

You can choose to make your wax melts from leftover candle wax or you can use natural ingredients, the decision is your make our role is to only show to make them. How to make wax melts from natural ingredients 

Making wax melts from natural ingredients is a difficult thing to do, as a matter of fact, the entire process may take around 20 minutes while solidification takes a few hours. All candle supplies are here. They have candle wax, candle wicks, and candle vessels for making wonderful candles.

Ingredients 

  • 10g of candle dye (you can use more if you need a stronger colour)
  • 200g beeswax beads
  • 15-20ml essential oils (you can use any essential oil you prefer)
  • 100g of coconut oil

Equipment 

  • Large spoon
  • Heat-proof bowl
  • Silicone ice cube tray
  • Saucepan

Procedure

  1. Measure around 300ml of water, pour it into a saucepan and bring it to simmer.
  2. Put the candle dye, beeswax, and coconut oil into your heat-proof glass bowl and place the bowl over the simmering water and allow it to heat up. Use the large to stir the mixture gently. 
  3. Once the beeswax has melted and combined with the oil, take it off the heat. Now add your essential oil to the mixture and stir well. For this example, we’ll be using lemon oil. 
  4. Evenly distributed your wax melt into a mould. For this guide, ice cube trays were used. If you can’t use ice cube trays then select a tray-type with small cavities so that the melts can fit into a burner.
  5. Place the tray in a cool place and allow the melt to solidify. After a few hours, your melt will be ready for use. Remove them from the trays and store them in a sealable bag or Tupperware.

How to make wax melts from leftover candle wax

You can make wax melts from leftover candle wax but there is a condition. You can only make wax melts from leftover scented candles. Don’t try to get smart and add essential oils to plain candles, they don’t work. 

To learn how to make wax melts from scented candles, follow the simple step-by-step guide outlined below:

  1. Remove all the leftover scented candles from its container. Try slicing the wax into small shavings, doing that will make the wax easier to melt.
  2. Put all your sliced shavings into a heat-proof glass bowl. Pour around 300ml of water into a saucepan and bring it to simmer. Now place the heat-proof bowl on the water.
  3. Use a large spoon to stir until the wax is smooth.
  4. Pour all the melted wax into an ice cube tray and leave it in a cool place to solidify. Once it’s solid, remove them from the ice cube tray and store them using sealable bags or Tupperware.
